Placeholder ImageIn 1917 a group of businessmen formed an organization now known as Lions Clubs International.

In 1925 at the National Convention, Helen Keller challenged the Lions Clubs organization to become “Knights of the Blind” and help rid the world of treatable blindness. From that day on, Lions Clubs International has done more for Eye Care than any other organization in the world.

Helen Keller Speach:

In 1986 The Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation built a 9 story clinic, located on Gravier Street in New Orleans. Today, this building houses the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation’s main offices and the LSU Health Sciences Center Department of Ophthalmology. Although the building is still under repair from Hurricane Katrina we are looking forward to returning soon.

Our Goal: to IMPROVE the QUALITY OF LIFE for Louisiana residents, through eye care services.

Our Commitment: Patient Care, Research & Development and Education.

The Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation serves thousands of patients through eye exams, surgeries, the Low Vision program and eyeglasses to help improve their vision. The Cubsight Program screens children to identify eye diseases at an early stage. And the Lions of Louisiana, through the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation, send recycled eyeglasses to Third World countries.
